JOHN SPOLESTRA, CARY GROVE HS, LHP

LHP, Spolestra, features a low-mid 80's FB and command 11/5 CB and has held some of the States best offeses at bay this past year with AcademyELITE.  While pitching for the Nationals, "Spoley" has earned his spot at the front of the rotation and is ready to take his game to the next level.  Physically, Spolestra continues to gain strength and size and projects nicely in a variety of roles at the collegiate level.

PETER MCNITT, NEW TRIER HS, IF-C

With two years of varsity baseball under his belt, Peter is among the brightest in a group of bright prospects for 2011.  Like the class of 2009, 2011 is just loaded with the quality of players and people that comprise the college game. Power to all field with outstanding pitch recognition and balance, McNitt has a model LH impact stroke.  He'll take a walk and rarely strikes out and runs better than most corner/catchers (7.1) due to his impossible fitness level.  Trainer Mindee Epstein: "Peter is a near-perfect athlete in terms of his attention to detail and unwavering commitment to making himself as good as he can be." Head Coach/MLB Scout Phil Apostle: "Self motivated and the kind of kid you root for.  He just does the right things.  He's always looking to make himself and everyone around him better. He can flat-out hit, too. Nobody's perfect--Pete comes pretty darned close."  Peter is already recieving offers, but academics will play a major role in where he lands. STUART HALEY, AcademyELITE, RHP

At 6'3 and change but just 150 lbs, "Hales" is the most interesting prospect in our class.  While pitching at the front of the rotation he has, at times, dominated games against Illinois Elite lineups. Still, his upside is where the excitement lies. Last fall, Haley topped out at 83mph while dropping his breaking ball at two disticly different speeds--both consistently for strikes. His delivery is classic power pitcher his mindset is pure control and composure.  The kid has a great college makeup.  It is our opinion that Haley will cruising in the 84-86 range within the next 18 months as his core and lower half continue to strengthen.  Loose arm action, a hard-nosed competitor, and startling repeatable skills for a player his size and age. PATRICK RAHILL, 2011, Loyola Academy UT-LHP

Good size 6'3 and very strong, Rahill has followed up a terrific offensive fall with a solid spring. Power to all fields and very patient.  Fearless and resilient, Rahill will hit in the middle of the Nats lineup this summer and will be featured this fall on AE's college tour.  Rahill could factor as a two-way player at the next level, his LH FB comes in at 82 mph and he can locate his breaking ball most outings.  His change continues to gain confidence. THOMAS MERRIMAN, 2011, New Trier HS, C-OF

As a two sport athlete (football), Thomas Merriman brings his athleticism to the baseball diamond, playing both catcher and outfield at high levels. Thomas has power to both gaps, using a solid "all fields" approach to make him a very tough out. With good bat control, Thomas is an ideal guy to hit behind runners and is a very good bunter when needed. Sitting right at 7.0, Thomas continues to work on his running game to make him a threat on the basepaths. Getting it done both on and off the field in the classroom (32 ACT) and in the cages, Thomas is going to make some college coach very happy. JAKE GORDON, 2011, North Shore CDS, MIF

Jake Gordon plays the game BIG. As a Junior this past season, Jake posted a ridiculous .448/.566/.845 slash line with 4 home runs at NSCDS. Probably the best defensive second basemen our program has to offer, Jake also plays a very solid SS, starting every game there for his high school. As a MIF switch-hitter with the ability to play some OF, Jake gives a college coach a lot of options both in the field and at the plate. Contact Phil Apostle 224.944.8534 or Zach Martin 847.858.8149
